Polaris Project operates a transitional housing program that can house six adult trafficking survivors in the Washington, D.C. metro area. This program follows the Scattered Site Model and is comprised of three separate apartments. Potential residents must go through an extensive interview process and thorough screening to assess eligibility and readiness for this independent-style living arrangement. Residents are able to stay in the program for 6-24 months depending on their situation and adherence to program rules. During their stay in the transitional housing program, clients are provided with gift cards to assist them with groceries, material items, and metro transportation. Residents also receive support services such as case management in addition to material support. We have provided more than 5,000 nights of shelter for victims of human trafficking since the housing program opened in 2007.
