To increase victim identification in our centralized locations, we conduct community outreach in Washington, D.C. and New Jersey. These efforts focus on raising the vigilance of community members who may come into contact with potential trafficking victims in the course of their daily work. Outreach includes local trainings and presentations as well as the distribution of outreach materials to various audiences including social service providers, law enforcement, and probation officers.
Client Services staff have also conducted outreach to vulnerable youth populations in group homes and juvenile detention centers and have created a curriculum used to help educate youth on human trafficking with age-appropriate activities, videos, and discussions.
In New Jersey, our staff developed and pioneered innovative direct methods of outreach by researching potential sex trafficking locations and conducting outreach at such locations, including go-go bars, strip clubs, farms and even the internet. Both human trafficking survivors and staff collaborated closely to develop and refine direct outreach methodologies.
Our staff in New Jersey developed innovative methods of conducting direct outreach to farmworkers in the fields of southern New Jersey.
