Location: Washington, DC Salary: Unpaid Position Description: Working as part of the Public Outreach and Communications team, the Communications and Media Fellow will have the opportunity to work directly with members of the media to engage them in the anti-trafficking movement, educate them on the issue, and raise awareness of human trafficking. Program efforts also focus on state and federal policy advocacy, education about resources and services available through the National Human Trafficking Resource Center (NHTRC), and fundraising. The Communications and Media Fellow will: assist with communications projects (e.g. videos, public awareness campaigns, design work, organizational branding); track day-to-day media stories on human trafficking and Polaris Project; create and design informational and promotional materials; develop content for the Press Room section of Polaris Project’s website; cultivate media contacts and maintain contacts database; draft and edit press releases, press kits, fact sheets, etc.; field and prioritize calls from members of the media; assist with follow-up to media stories; and support and coordinate special events and projects.
