Position: Resource Call Specialist
Available Shifts: Evenings, Weekends, and Overnights
Pay:  $12- $13 per hour (DOE)
Department: National Human Trafficking Resource Center (NHTRC) hotline Position Description:

Polaris Project is seeking one to three Resource Call Specialists to assist in the operation of the National Human Trafficking Resource Center, a 24-hour, toll-free hotline designed to respond to calls relating to the issue of human trafficking in the United States.  

Position Description:
  • Under the supervision of the NHTRC team, the Resource Call Specialist is primarily responsible for answering telephone inquiries received through the NHTRC hotline. The Specialist will follow developed protocols according to the type of call received and will provide corresponding information to callers from the NHTRC resource database.
  • The Resource Call Specialist can expect to field a wide array of calls from victims, service providers, local and national anti-trafficking agencies, community members, students, and law enforcement agents. 
  • This position requires a sensitive and professional phone presence, and the ability to respond to diverse calls, work well under pressure, and maintain composure during stressful situations
  • Other components of this position may also entail the completion of research and formulation of new and innovative anti-trafficking resources, as well as updates to the NHTRC contacts database and/or NHTRC library of anti-trafficking resources. 
  • When Resource Call Specialists are not fielding calls or conducting follow up, they will broadly undertake tasks that will facilitate the best response possible to the calls we receive, which may include the following: database updates and maintenance; response to NHTRC emails; and general  assistance as needed to support the operation of the NHTRC hotline.


Required Qualifications:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Demonstrated research skills and ability to synthesize large volumes of material
  • Demonstrated interest/knowledge of the human trafficking field
  • Demonstrated passion for social justice, human rights and gender issues
  • Previous experience in Crisis Management, Crisis Intervention, or Hotline Operation
  • Experience, competence, and confidence working independently
  • General flexibility and ease of movement between multiple projects and priorities
  • Clean criminal background check
  • Agreement with Polaris Values

Recommended Qualifications:
  • BA in International Relations, Social Work, Psychology, Law, Sociology, or related fields.
  • Relevant experience will also be considered in place of degree.
  • Language proficiency in Spanish is strongly preferred and required for evening shifts.
