March 2008 | Polaris Project Staff Member Appears on CNN's Anderson Cooper 360°

B. Myles, the Deputy Director at Polaris Project, was featured on CNN's Anderson Cooper 360° on March 13th.   Myles discussed the reality of sex trafficking in the context of a piece highlighting the lack of public awareness about the experiences of women and girls in prostitution.

On Sunday, March 16th, 2008, Polaris Project was featured in Nicholas Kristof's op-ed article in the NYTimes entitled "The Pimps' Slaves."  In the article, Kristof asserts that "If the Spitzer affair causes us to lose sight of the broader reality of prostitution, then the biggest loser will be the girls for whom selling sex isn't a choice but a nightmare."  Polaris Project provides insight about the ways pimps gain control over the minds and bodies of girls and women and exploit them in the sex industry for money.  To read the article, click here

December 2007 | Polaris Project Begins Operations of National Human Trafficking Resource Center

On December 12th, 2007, Polaris Project staff began operating the Department of Health and Human Services-funded National Human Trafficking Resource Center (NHTRC), a 24-hour, seven day a week toll free hotline.  For questions, referrals, resources or to report a tip in your area, you can contact the NHTRC at 1-888-3737-888.  To read more about the hotline, click here.

October 1st, 2007 | Polaris Project’s Training and Technical Assistance Program Expanded

Polaris Project welcomes three new employees, N. Moler, C. Chu and S. Jakiel, to their National Training and Technical Assistance team (TTASP). The TTASP team will be expanding Polaris Project’s technical assistance to the anti-trafficking field.
