Ms. Chauhan joined Polaris Project and the National Human Trafficking Resource Center (NHTRC) in June 2010. As a Program Specialist and Shift Supervisor, Ms. Chauhan serves as the regional point of contact for 11 northwestern and central states, where she is responsible for the development and maintenance of service provider and law enforcement contacts in those states as well as coordinating various hotline responses. She has fielded and responded to hotline calls from community members, victims of trafficking, service providers, law enforcement, and other actors working in the anti-trafficking field. Ms. Chauhan co-manages NHTRC Hotline Call Specialists and has conducted training and presentations on human trafficking to community members, international audiences and new staff members.
Prior to joining the Polaris community, Ms. Chauhan worked on issues of international and domestic family abductions as an Assistant Case Manager at the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. While at the Immigrant & Refugee Appellate Center, Ms. Chauhan assisted in the preparation of opening briefs and procedural motions on behalf of international clients in appellate immigration matters.
Ms. Chauhan is proficient in Gujarati and has received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Arizona and her Juris Doctor degree from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
