Morel Jones | Program Specialist and Supervisor

Ms. Jones joined Polaris Project’s National Human Trafficking Resource Center (NHTRC) in March 2009. As a regional Specialist for southwestern region of the United States, she builds local and statewide reporting and referral protocols to enhance the NHTRC's responses to trafficking cases in those states. She has provided training and technical assistance to diverse audiences on a number of topics, including coalition building, trafficking assessments and victim identification, and building local infrastructure and referral protocols. In her role as a hotline supervisor, Ms. Jones assists in developing and overseeing the NHTRC’s Call Specialist program. She coordinates new staff training, ongoing staff professional development, and organization-wide wellness activities.

Prior to joining Polaris, Ms. Jones worked as an immigration paralegal in San Francisco, where she prepared applications for asylum, deportation defense, and immigration relief under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and the Convention Against Torture (CAT). Ms. Jones also worked on several sustainable agriculture projects in rural India, where she provided technical assistance to farmworkers. Ms. Jones is a former volunteer with the DC Rape Crisis Center, where she served as a hotline counselor and hospital advocate. She is fluent in Spanish.
