Sophie Mullinax joined Polaris Project’s national office, based in Washington, D.C., in July of 2009. She currently works in Operations, where she provides support for all areas of the organization. She has always wanted to work for social justice and became passionate about the issue of human trafficking when a family member expressed concern about its existence and proliferation in the United States. As a child, Ms. Mullinax was exposed to a wide array of social and political issues. She spent her formative years in New York City where her late mother championed for the legal rights of Korean immigrants. Prior to joining Polaris, she completed a BA in Philosophy with a concentration in Ethics and Gender Studies at Wake Forest University in North Carolina.
